The 1/2-inch ascenders (Models 340004 and 340006) have undergone several rescue performance improving changes. The shell bottom has been modified creating a curved interface, which improves the holding power. The shell thickness has been increased by 50%. The cams on the rescue
models are now coated with tough polyurethane for a solid grip at normal loads and controlled sliding at loads over 2,000 lbs. (9 KN).

Rescue experts have long advocated the use of
a Soft Link anywhere a potential torque load could he applied to a carablner, such as the small diameter hole in the cam of a Gibbs Ascender when the ascender is used in a mechanical al advantage system. We have been using Soft Links in our rescue classes for many years and refined the specifications for the most efficient performance when used with a CMC Rescue Pulley. Made from 6,000 lb, one inch flat web hartacked to the heavy duty rescue versions of the Gibbs Ascenders. 3a MBS: 5,000 lbs. (22 KN) Color: Red.

This industrial rope grab from Tractel is specially designed to be used with 7/16 and 1/2-inch Kernmantle ropes which makes it an excellent way to attach to your safety rope for rope access work. The all stainless steel unit features a cam lever that has two ridges for high-speed activation. The pressure plate on the cam lever brakes against the rope to provide a low arrest force to minimize damage to the fall arrest system. The Stopfor rope grab can be attached mid-rope and the unique gravity latch hinders upside down installation.
